Dr Said Yasseri

Environmental Chemist

Manila, Philippines

Byran brings a rare expertise in environmental economics to enhance LSI’s ability to use cutting-edge science to cost-effectively manage water quality. As a former Aquatic Technology Development Scientist at SePRO Corporation, Byran is the lead inventor of six U.S. patents and four commercial products designed to effectively manage phosphorus in aquatic ecosystems. In this role, he also served as the scientific advisor for the EutroPHIX division of SePRO, where his extensive understanding of sediment-water interface chemistry led to the successful management of eutrophication in hundreds of ponds and dozens of lakes across the United States.

Byran employs a systems thinking approach to identify practical, cost-effective solutions for improving water quality. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Systems, where he studied the intersection between sediment biogeochemistry, source water quality, and the economics of drinking water treatment. He also holds an MBA, an MS in Environmental Engineering Sciences, and a BS in Chemistry.

Byran is the past president and current president-elect of the California Lake Management Society (CALMS), a program committee member for the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS), and a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Source Water Protection Committee. Byran is also the founder of a nonprofit organization that helps provide clean drinking water to impoverished communities, a mission that has led him to relocate from the US to Manila, Philippines.
